Accessibility

Access to the house by wheelchair or for those who have trouble climbing stairs is made very easy by a purpose built lift installed during the restoration. The only area not accessible is the Library, however staff can provide a short video showing the appearance of the room. Fully accessible toilets are available, as well as a hearing loop in the shop.

Murder Mystery: A Shot in the Dark!

Welcome to the 1930s where a dastardly murder will keep you guessing until the very end.

Events unfold on the wonderful Darling Estate. Join an assortment of guests as they prepare for a pheasant shoot and look forward to their evening meal.

Who will die and how? With so many weapons being polished anything could happen! Do you have what it takes to solve this cunning murder mystery.

Wearing your finest attire, dreee up in your glad rags (1930s costume welcome) and join us at Strawberry Hill for our annual murder mystery evening. Your ticket includes a complimentary glass of fizz and three course meal.

Cash bar will be in operation during and after dinner. If you would like to book an entire table please book 10 places.


Pollock's Toy Theatre Perform Jack and the Giant Killer

Fee-fi-fo-fum ….  enjoy a traditional Victorian take on the well loved pantomine Jack and the Beanstalk. Presented by Pollock's Toy Theatre,using a travelling theatre filled with tricks, guaranteed to delight and amuse not only children, but all those who are attracted to the delights and memories of childhood.

Both adults and children require a ticket for this performance. 

Over 5s. Children must be accompanied at all times.


Pollock's Toy Theatre Presents: The Castle of Otranto

Written by Horace Walpole in 1764, The Castle of Otranto was the first gothic novel. In the 19th Century it was reimagined and performed as a play and at this unique event Pollock's Toy Theatre will present Otranto the play in its original form. Using a travelling theatre, the performers will give a short historical introduction, explain topical jokes of the period and encourage the audience to see how Victorian theatre tricks work.

Pre-show dining available in the scenic Cloister Coffee House. Dinners should pre-book table in the tickets section (no charge) and arrive at the cafe for 5.30pm on the evening. the bistro menu is available to view here


Ghost Stories for Christmas

In the macabre tradition of the BBC's classic 1970s programme, Ghost Stories for Christmas, we present a theatrical performance featuring new adaptations of classic spine-chillers. An evening of vengeful revenants, restless spirits and malevolent ghouls is guaranteed for those brave enough to join us!

By popular demand chamber choir Coro, accompanied by the Purcell Players, return for another Christmas concert in the glorious surroundings of Strawberry Hill.

Music to include seasonal pieces with some congregational carols.

Tickets include a complimentary drink and mince pie on arrival.
