Accessibility

Access to the house by wheelchair or for those who have trouble climbing stairs is made very easy by a purpose built lift installed during the restoration. The only area not accessible is the Library, however staff can provide a short video showing the appearance of the room. Fully accessible toilets are available, as well as a hearing loop in the shop.

Flower Arranging on a Budget

Bring a bunch of your favourite supermarket flowers and transform them along with flowers grown in the Strawberry Hill garden into a beautiful creation to decorate your home.

This creative workshop includes a refreshing cream tea in the Cloister House Café and short tour of the garden.

All creations you get to take home with you but please bring your own vases to the workshop.

Arcadian Walks with Chris Sumner

Twickenham, on a bend in the River Thames, enjoys a special place in the history of the English garden.

This walking tour starts at York House, a C17 red-brick house in former times the home variously of Horace Walpole's niece Mrs Anne Damer. It then continues along the Embankment to the modern gardens on the site of the demolished Twickenham swimming pool, along Cross Deep to the site of Pope's house and garden and to Radnor Gardens, formerly the site of Radnor House.

From Radnor Gardens it is but a short walk across the road to Strawberry Hill...

Your ticket includes a refreshing cream tea in the Cloister House Café at the end of this informative guided walk.

Croquet took England by storm in the 1860 but there is evidence it was being played during the reign of Charles II during the 17th Century. Enjoy a genteel evening of Pimms and croquet in the beautiful surroundings of Strawberry Hill with Horace’s castle as a backdrop.

Test your skill with a mallet against friends, family and others willing to demonstrate their sport prowess. Tickets include equipment hire and a complimentary glass of Pimms or a soft drink.
