The Museum Room

The Museum Room on the Ground Floor is in what used to be Walpole’s Servants Hall. This room tells the story of the people of Strawberry Hill including Philip Colomb, Walpole’s Swiss valet; Lady Frances Waldegrave, the chatelaine of the 19th century; Anne Damer, one of the first women sculptors who inherited the house from Walpole for her life-time; and the Vincentian Fathers who lived in the house for most of the 20th century. There is also an interactive image of the Castle of Otranto and access to Yale University’s database of Horace Walpole’s Collections.
