A lift provides access to the first floor with only one room inaccessible to wheelchair users. Compliant toilets and hearing loops are also available.

Due to weddings or private hire the house will close early on the following dates:

Self-Guided Visit

Book your timed ticket to view the restored rooms during our public opening hours. Stewards are available to answer questions and you will receive an abridged version of Walpole’s Description of the Villa. Average visit length 90 minutes including museum and exhibitions.

Early Bird Guided Tour

For those who prefer a tour guide bookings can be made for public tours. These set off every Wednesday at 10am or every Saturday at 10.30am; average visit length is 120 minutes including museum and exhibitions. This tour can only be booked in advance.

Twilight Tour

Enjoy a tour of the house at the most dramatic time of day. Strictly over 18s only, tickets include a glass of prosecco on arrival.

Guided Tours for Large Groups

We can open the house and café exclusively for your group of ten or more visitors on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday mornings from 10.30am.
