Strawberry Hill House & Garden, created by Horace Walpole in the 18th century, has been open to visitors for over 250 years. This extraordinary building is internationally famous as Britain’s finest example of Georgian Gothic revival architecture and home to an increasingly important collection of paintings and objects.

Opening Times

House & Shop: Sunday – Wednesday, 11 – 4. Final entry one hour before closing
Garden & Garden Café: Sunday – Thursday, 10 – 4.

Following government advice about Covid-19, although legal restrictions are being removed, Strawberry Hill House & Garden are committed to prioritising the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff. Therefore, we will be asking visitors to please book ahead, with revised time slots to help us stagger numbers entering the House and ensure that social distancing can be maintained.

GARDEN BLOG: The Garden continues to bloom as we step into Spring. Our Hepatica and Narcissi are still on show for visitors to enjoy in the grounds, and the woodland walk is edged by purple and white fritillaries, with cherry laurels, marking the approach to our famous Walpole oak.


NEWS: Thank you to everyone who has helped us meet our ‘Horace and Hogarth Reunited’ target appeal! We’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support we have received. Acquiring this remarkable painting is a rare opportunity and we look forward to this portrait joining other works in our collection.
